Alexa T. (Orozco) Dodd is a writer, editor, wife, & mother.

The daughter of a Mexican immigrant and a Polish-German Midwesterner, she draws on the mixed cultures of her upbringing to craft stories about identity, inheritance, and family. Her work was the winner of the Uncharted Magazine “Aftermath” Short Story Award judged by A.C. Wise, the winner of the 2021 Puerto del Sol Prose Contest, and a semi-finalist in the Nimrod Literary Awards. Her stories have also appeared in LitHub, Aquifer: The Florida Review OnlineRiver Teeth Journal, and elsewhere. The first chapters of her current novel-in-progress were shortlisted in the Uncharted Magazine Novel Excerpt Prize.

In 2019, she was a recipient of a Hypatia-in-the-Woods residency for women artists. She also attended the Tin House 2019 Summer Workshop. She is a native of Texas, where she lives with her husband and their three sons.

Alexa is also a freelance editor and copywriter with experience in multiple genres and publications. She has a master’s in English and Creative Writing from Texas Tech University and a bachelor’s in English from the University of Dallas. The “T” in her name is for her Polish maiden name “Turczynski.” “Orozco,” frequently a pen name, is her maternal grandmother’s maiden name, and is a tribute to Alexa’s Tita, her mother, and her Mexican heritage.
